SPORT PHOTOGRAPHY IS ABOUT MORE THAN JUST ACTION

When you think of sports photography you automatically think of frozen actions shots. Whilst this is often the main part of sport photography, it only shows part of the event.

Much of the story is contained in the emotions and struggles of the participants. The rivalry and comradeship of competitors and fans can be a powerful motivator and can make some great photos. It is great to show the concentration and effort of participants.

Similarly the fans, judges, sponsors, teammates and family members are an important part of the story.

I believe it is important to be aware of what is going on around the event.

YOU DON’T TAKE A PHOTOGRAPHY, YOU MAKE IT

That is not to say that the action should take second place. It is still the cornerstone of an event and it is critical to the story of an event.
